We had many successes and some technical glitches during our first Teams meetings this morning.
Most issues are due to a Teams app update that was unsuccessful. You can fix this issue by doing the following:
1. Press and hold the gray Teams icon. It will then ask you to cancel the download. You DO want to cancel the download.
2. Go into "Self Service" and re-download Teams
** The newly downloaded app should work properly.
We are problem-solving technical issues from the 9am session and will be ready for the 1:00pm "check-in" Teams meetings this afternoon.
Please continue to contact your child's teacher via Schoology if you are having any technical issues or questions about student work. They may be able to provide a solution quickly. For more involved issues, teachers know who to contact for help. Once we are aware of problems, we work together to find solutions as soon as possible.
We are all learning this new way of teaching and learning together and appreciate your patience and communication. We will get better and more efficient each day!

Lubeck Families,
This is Mrs. Hardman, Principal at Lubeck Elementary. Based on the WVDE Covid-19 metrics, Wood County Schools will be operating remotely for the coming week. This means that no students will attend in person and instruction will be provided through Schoology. While we always want to remain hopeful, we knew it was necessary to prepare for remote learning. Over the past week, we have worked with our students to practice using the Teams feature on their iPads. Many students were able to practice with Teams, but some classrooms simply ran out of time with school being closed for Election Day.
Each day at 9:00am their teacher will provide a "live" reading and math lesson using Microsoft Teams. To get to Microsoft Teams, students need to log into Schoology and they will find the link to their Teams group. (THEY MUST USE THE BLACK SCHOOLOGY ICON, NOT THE WHITE ONE)
The virtual instruction will be from 9-10am. During this time, teachers will provide a face-to-face math and reading lesson to kickstart the day's work. Lessons will be followed by virtual "office hours" from 10:00-12:00. Using Schoology, students or parents can reach out to their teacher for help or reteach. At 1:00 teachers will be back on Teams for a "check-in" time to see how students are doing with their daily work or to provide reteach if necessary. Teachers will use the remainder of their workday for instructional planning. If your student is unable to attend the Teams session when scheduled, lessons will be recorded so they may be viewed later.
Monday, November 9th at 9am will be a trial run for our Teams meetings. As with anything new, we expect some glitches, but we are confident that we can work through those. If your child is unable to locate the Teams link on your students Schoology page, please message the teacher through Schoology and they can help.
Even with preparation, there will be bumps in the road. Remember that the Lubeck Elementary and other schools in Wood county have free WiFi if that is a need. Teachers will not be loading up assignments with the intentions of duplicating a typical day. They will be focusing on critical skills and moving forward with new learning. We will also have school staff available for technical troubleshooting.
Due to Veteran's Day, there will not be online instruction on Wednesday.
Thank you for your patience during this challenging time. We hope to see our students back in our building very soon!

KINDERGARTEN-2nd GRADE DISMISSAL UPDATES
EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 9, 2020
There are two changes that will occur starting Monday, November 9.
1. If you are picking up a K-2 AND 3-5 student, they will be dismissed together on Route 68 starting on November 9. (This is a change from door 8.)
2. Each K-2 family will get a card with their child’s name and grade on it. As you line up for dismissal, please have this card visible either by placing it somewhere on the dashboard/windows or holding it up so it can be read. This will allow us to have your student ready for you before you get up to door 8.
The poles leading to door 8 will also be numbered. Please pull all the way up. Once your car comes to a complete stop, we can help your child into the vehicle.
Teachers will be outside working to make this as safe and smooth as possible. Please refrain from getting out of your vehicle, as this slows down the process considerably. Teachers can assist your child with the car door, but do to liability, we are not permitted to help your child with any kind of seat belt buckle. If your child needs assistance, please pull up to the cone at the end of the pick-up ramp where you can safely help your child while still letting traffic flow.
Thank you for your help and patience!

Lubeck Elementary is looking for a BOYS BASKETBALL COACH. The details for a girls and boys basketball season are still in the works, but we want to get our coaching staff lined up ASAP.
If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Hardman at 304-863-3321 or email amber.hardman@k12.wv.us

As you know Wood County students will begin attending school face to face on Monday, November 9.
In preparation for all students attending, we have
made minor changes to our K-2 pick-up procedures. There will be no changes to the pick-up for grades 3-5.
Watch for information that will go home with K-2 students on Monday or Thursday of this week (there is no school on Tuesday for Election Day). Information will also be shared on Facebook, Lubeck School Live Feed, and text.
The utilization of the Wood County Schools Bus is always a great option for afternoon transportation. Students who live within a few miles of the school often arrive at home by bus faster than if they are picked up at school. We have a wonderful group of drivers who take great care in transporting our students.

SCHOOL PHOTO RETAKE DATE CHANGE
Lubeck School picture retakes will be on a November 16. This change allows us to have one day of retakes for anyone wishing to participate.

Lubeck Families,
This is Mrs. Hardman, principal at Lubeck Elementary School. On Tuesday night the Wood County Board of Education approved Mr. Hosaflook's proposed plan for students to return to school 4 days a week (M-Th with Friday remote learning) starting November 9th for elementary students. Parents also have a choice of doing remote learning 5 days a week through Schoology. If you would like your child to participate in remote learning only and not face to face learning in the school building, please contact the school office or your child’s teacher as soon as possible. It is important that we know instructional preferences so that we may prepare for our students who are learning on campus and off campus. If you are currently enrolled in WV Virtual School, you may remain in that program. Thank you for your help with this.
