Wood County Schools is again offering a damage waiver program for student iPads. The program allows families to pay an upfront fee at the beginning of the school year which reduces the cost of repair and replacement of the iPad of those enrolled. Families can buy in one student for $30 or pay $60 for a family plan, which includes 2 or more students. If a family paid for the damage waiver last year and did NOT have a claim, that payment is rolled over into this year and the family is automatically enrolled again. If a family paid for the damage waiver last year and DID have a claim, they can buy back in to the program by filling out and paying for a new damage waiver. The program does require a student ID number. Contact your child’s school if you do not know their student ID number. Visit our payment portal to purchase. https://woodcountyschoolswv.com/payment

Wood County Schools will be canceling TREK this week due to staffing issues. Therefore, buses will not transport students that attend Franklin Elementary for TREK grades 3-5. Franklin Elementary students will report as normal. We apologize for this inconvenience and look forward to resuming TREK next week. Have a great evening!

Wood County Schools' internet provider has a fiber line down between Charleston and Parkersburg. Their crews are on site and there is no ETA on when the line will be repaired. With that being said, there is a possibility that the internet may be out tomorrow at all WCS locations if the line is not repaired in time. Details will be shared as soon as we get them.

We had a great 1st day of school at Lubeck! We appreciate your patience as we safely dismiss students. The first days take a little longer as we get back into routine. Buses did depart about 7 minutes later than normal.

Lubeck Families, The chance of rain overnight is 90% and morning rain with afternoon storms remain highly likely for tomorrow. Unfortunately, field day events must be moved indoors. Therefore, we will not need volunteers as planned. We are able to adjust the inflatable rental so that they can be set up in the gym. Students will still be able to enjoy those (which is a huge favorite) in addition to indoor games and fun with their classmates. Students are encouraged to wear their field day shirts. Thank you to all who offered to volunteer to help. We are disappointed that field day will not go as planned, but are thankful that our students have had many fun and engaging experiences throughout the year. This has been a year of regrouping and recovery. As we begin, hopefully a normal 2022-23 school year, there will be many more opportunities for parents to volunteer. Have a great evening!

Lubeck Families, Today, students in Kindergarten-4th grade had an opportunity to meet all of the teachers for the grade level they will be entering. Teachers shared information and answered questions. As part of this activity, students will be bringing home a green paper that gives more details about their entering grade. This includes names of the teacher in that grade level, school supply ideas, topics they will be learning in the next grade level, and skills they can practice over the summer. Our hope is that this tradition helps to eliminate any anxiety about the new school year. August will be here before we know it!

Lubeck Field Day REMINDER: If you volunteered for field day, nametags were sent home early this week. **Parent/guardians of a K-2nd grade students- your shift is 8AM-10:45AM **Parent/guardians of a 3-5 students- your shift is 12:15PM-2:45PM **If you have two nametags, you volunteered for both shifts. Please report to the white tables on the route 68 side of the building to check in. The number on your nametag is the station where you will be working. We are carefully monitoring the weather for Friday. Because we reserved inflatables, there was no option for a rain date. If there is a high probability of bad weather, there will be a message sent via Facebook, text, Live Feed, and on our school website. A decision will be made no later than 7am on Friday morning. If we are forced to move things inside, volunteers will not be needed for the day. However, we will make sure that it is still a fun day for our students. We remain hopeful that the weather will shift and it will be a nice day. Thank you!
