FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Parents: Explore Prestigious, Fully Funded U.S. Service Academy Opportunities at Upcoming Academy Day Events Across WV
West Virginia – Parents of middle and high school students across the Mountain State are encouraged to learn more about one of the most prestigious and valuable educational opportunities available to young Americans — an appointment to a U.S. Service Academy. These appointments offer a fully funded college education valued at $240,000 to over $400,000, along with a guaranteed leadership career in military service upon graduation.
In recent years, students from Berkeley, Cabell, Greenbrier, Harrison, Jefferson, Marion, Mercer, Morgan, Ohio, Putnam, Randolph, Wayne, and Wood counties have successfully earned appointments to U.S. Service Academies and Preparatory Schools — and many have already begun their journeys this past summer. West Virginia students who graduated from Service Academies in 2025 are now launching exciting careers in fields ranging from engineering to aviation, cybersecurity, medicine, and national defense.
Early Awareness is Key
While West Virginia students are more than capable of meeting the academic, physical, and leadership challenges these institutions demand, awareness is often the first barrier. Families must begin exploring these opportunities early in a student’s academic path to align coursework, extracurriculars, and fitness to meet the rigorous application standards.
Having an informed support system — including parents, educators, and mentors — is crucial during the nomination and application process.
