Good evening. Wood County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for Tuesday, February 16, 2021. The weather forecast over the past 24 hours continues to change for the Mid-Ohio Valley Region. Our plan is to evaluate road conditions again early in the morning to make a final decision. Wood County Schools will send more communication to students and staff around 6:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. Good evening. Following a briefing with the National Weather Service at 8:00 p.m. this evening, Wood County Schools will be operating on Remote Instruction for Monday, February 15. Between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., heavy amounts of freezing rain and possible snow are predicted in the early morning with another front moving into our region in the afternoon. Students will not report to school, but will be expected to logon to Microsoft Teams at 10:00 a.m. Professional and Service employees will report to their work locations one hour after their normal arrival times. If there would be a change regarding employees, an announcement will be made by 6:45 a.m. tomorrow morning. Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

Good evening. This is a reminder that tomorrow, February 12 is a scheduled Non-Traditional Instructional Day. Teachers will have lessons in Schoology by 9:00 a.m. for students to complete. No students will report to school.

Students are expected to logon to Microsoft Teams beginning at 10:00 a.m. Curbside meal service will be available at each of our schools from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Again, Wood County Schools will be in Remote Learning status for all students on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.

Students with last names L-Z will report to school in-person Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Once again, High School students will attend school in-person on the schedule listed above if Wood County continues the "Orange" status or lower on the WVDHHR daily map.

Due to Monday being a holiday, we will wait until 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 18 to review the WVDHHR map to find out the status of instruction in our High Schools for the upcoming week. If we are "Red" on the map, we will be in remote learning for the entire week. If we are "Orange", students with last names L-Z will return to in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 19. Early this afternoon, the West Virginia Board of Education, in conjunction with the Governor’s Executive Order, voted to give school districts flexibility to return to school in-person, 5 days a week beginning January 19. After I receive clarification from the WVDE on a couple items in the approved motion, the Wood County Schools re-entry plan for January 19th, 2021 will be released tomorrow morning.
Also, I truly appreciate all the communication I have received from students, parents, and our employees with thoughts and concerns regarding re-entry. This is not an easy decision, but a decision that will be methodically analyzed taking into account several factors in our educational system.
