cyberswat opt out form

Dear Greenmont Families,

As part of a statewide effort to support student safety, the West Virginia Legislature passed Senate Bill 466 in 2024. This law requires schools to provide annual instruction for students in grades 3–12 through the Safety While Accessing Technology (SWAT) program. The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) provides this instruction through the Skyll platform.

The program is designed to help students learn how to use technology safely, responsibly, and appropriately in today’s digital world.

We recognize that some of the topics included in online safety and digital interaction lessons may be personal or sensitive for families. Because of this, parents and guardians have the right to review the program information and choose whether their child participates.

If you prefer that your child not participate in the CyberSWAT/Skyll program, you may complete the district opt-out form using the link below:

Students who are opted out will participate in alternative digital citizenship and internet safety activities that continue to meet state CIPA requirements.

Our goal is to make sure families are informed and aware of the available options regarding this program. If you have questions, please contact the school office.

Thank you,

Greenmont Elementary School
