As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to personally say ‘Thank You’ to all of Wood County Schools’ selfless and dedicated educators.
This has been one of the most challenging school years in recent history. Our teachers have not only endured nearly impossible tasks but have risen to the challenge and have continued to place our students first. Our teachers and personnel have dedicated countless hours keeping students engaged, providing support and care to families, and giving our children a beacon of normalcy in an often turbulent and uncertain world. The work you do each day is more appreciated than you will ever know.
Wood County Schools is blessed to have so many caring and dedicated teachers, and I want all of you to know: We see what you are doing and what you have done, and we are thankful you are here.
Thank you for making a difference!

We are proud to announce Jake Hogsett as the winner of the 2021 March OVAC Athlete of the Month! Thanks to everyone for casting your vote for this outstanding student athlete!
It’s a great day to be a Patriot!

PSHS Prom will be on May 1st. Students must purchase tickets online. You must be a current junior or senior to purchase tickets. Current juniors and seniors may bring an underclassman or outside guest. All outside guest forms must be submitted for approval to the main office by April 30th.
Unfortunately, parents and community members will not be able to enter the school on Prom night. Hopefully, it will not rain and we will have our promenade (7 pm) in the horseshoe. The students will line up in the lower lot and walk between the 3000 building and the Vo Tech Center to the horseshoe.
If it rains, students will enter through the cafeteria doors at 7 pm. All students will have a wellness check (temperature), prior to entering the dance. All food and drink will be prepackaged. Outdoor seating will be provided for breaks and eating.
Thanks to sponsors Abbie Burge and Maria Becker for their organization of this special event.

Juniors who missed the SAT test day will have an opportunity to take the test on Tuesday, April 27th. Please register in the counseling center, if you are interested. Virtual and remote students can register by calling the school and asking for the counseling center or Mrs. Francisco. The SAT is a qualifier for the Promise Scholarship, as well as many other scholarships and awards.

At the end of February, Sophomores Alex DeShetler and Tessa Prunty, Seniors Haley Hatfield and Amyra Kinnaird, and Junior Cyleigh Sampson auditioned and made the WVMEA All-State Chorus! Auditions were held over zoom this year. In addition, Junior Cyleigh Sampson was selected as a member of the WVACDA Chamber Choir because of her high score. Congratulations to these students.
