Wood County Schools has made a change regarding the caller ID number for all mass calls and texts in which we want you to be aware. Previously, all mass calls made from Wood County Schools, used for emergencies or other important information, whether from the central office or from any individual school, used the number (304) 420-9520 for the caller ID. Starting today, all school mass calls will show a caller ID number that is the same as the school's main telephone number. District calls will continue to show a caller ID of (304) 420-9520. The caller ID number for any individual school may be verified by visiting the school's webpage and finding the phone number in the footer of the page.
Basketball and wrestling season is quickly approaching and so is the end of the nine-week grading period. Students wishing to participate in athletics will need to have a 2.0 grade point average to participate. All students interested in trying out for athletics will also need a WVSSAC sports physical.

Important changes to our calendar of events!
The Haunted House hosted by the Vandy social committee will now take place on the same night as our school’s Trunk or Treat event-October 25 from 5-7pm. There will be an admission price of $1 for the Haunted House. Proceeds to benefit the Vandy Social Committee. Family trunks welcome to participate- and VMS is accepting donations of candy for the event.
The Vandy Halloween dance has also been moved to October 26 from 5-7pm with an admission price of $3. There will be a costume contest! This event is hosted by Student Government with proceeds benefitting their club.

Wood County Schools is again offering a damage waiver program for student iPads. The program allows families to pay an upfront fee at the beginning of the school year which reduces the cost of repair and replacement of the iPad of those enrolled. Families can buy in one student for $30 or pay $60 for a family plan, which includes 2 or more students. If a family paid for the damage waiver last year and did NOT have a claim, that payment is rolled over into this year and the family is automatically enrolled again. If a family paid for the damage waiver last year and DID have a claim, they can buy back in to the program by filling out and paying for a new damage waiver. Iready math benchmark diagnostics begin on Tuesday during core math class. Students performing on grade level may have schedule adjusted to be removed from Intervention. Students performing below grade level may be removed from an elective and placed in intervention. Encourage your student to do their BEST WORK! Students offered a free breakfast in cafe from 715am- 750am. Classes begin at 8am. Classes dismiss at 3:08 pm. **Car riders should be picked up at Lincoln center- please do not park on 31st street in front of the school as it creates safety risks and makes it difficult for buses pulling out and flow of traffic.
Wood County Schools' internet provider has a fiber line down between Charleston and Parkersburg. Their crews are on site and there is no ETA on when the line will be repaired. With that being said, there is a possibility that the internet may be out tomorrow at all WCS locations if the line is not repaired in time. Details will be shared as soon as we get them.
