Our Boys Basketball Team plays in the COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP GAME tonight at 6:30 pm versus Blenny (Parkersburg Catholic High School). We would love to see as many Greenmont supporters as possible at the game!

Due to snowy and icy conditions impacting a significant portion of the southern part of Wood County, Wood County Schools will now be closed today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026. While some areas of the county may not be experiencing the same conditions, roadways in other areas remain hazardous. Because our buses and families travel across many different communities and road conditions, this decision was made to prioritize the safety of all students and staff throughout the entire county. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure everyone can travel safely.

Important Update Regarding the End of the School Year: We are pleased to share that the West Virginia Department of Education has granted Wood County Schools a waiver for three instructional days. As a result of this approval, the last day of school for students will remain Tuesday, June 2, 2026 — no changes have been made to the previously published school calendar. No further action is needed on your part. Please make note of this date as you plan for summer childcare, activities, and travel. Greenmont's Cook's Choice for Friday, March 13 will be hamburgers or chicken patties (depends on lunch shift) sweet potato fries and fresh vegetables.

Please keep sending in your BINGO cards for a prize and chance to win a raffle basket. We will also have the Masked Reader and Andy The Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse in the morning!

Read Across America Week began in PAWSITIVELY awesome fashion today! Tuesday’s Read Across America Week activity is “TOP HAT TUESDAY” where students wear their favorite head gear.
Wednesday is Whacky Wednesday- Crazy Socks and/or mos-matched clothes.
Thursday is Wild About Reading- Wear an animal print or something with an animal on it- could be Grizzly Gear.
Friday is Cozy Up With A Good Book- Pam day and and stuffed animal.

Grizzlies! A reminder that Read Across America week kicks off tomorrow at Greenmont with “We PAWSITIVELY Love Books” in which students wear a shirt with a positive message. Students may also participate in a BOOK WALK every morning in the gym before morning meeting (this is a cake walk with books as the prize) which costs one quarter per round. All proceeds will be donated to Read Across America.

If your child has an upcoming birthday and you wish to send in invitations to be passed out, you must have an invitation for every student in the class, which also includes students in our Autism and multi-categorical programs that may be part of your child's class. If you don't wish to invite every student from the class to your child's party, that's your choice, but you won't be permitted to pass out any invitations at school in that case. Basically, invitations at school is "all or nothing" in simple terms. Due to limitations, parents may not eat lunch with their child at school, but parents may pick up their child from school and take them to eat during lunch and recess which is about an hour. We appreciate your understanding with this matter. Happy Birthday!

Wood County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday, February 9, 2026, due to single-digit morning temperatures and challenging conditions on some secondary roads.
Wood County Schools will be closed today, Friday, February 6, 2026, due to expected snowfall and already icy roadway conditions. The safety of our students, families, and staff is our highest priority, and this decision was made after careful consideration of travel conditions across the district.
