Grizzly Updates!
Report cards for grades 3-5 will be mailed to homes the week of June 15. Class/teacher lists will not be sent home until mid-late July. Our staff painted the main hallway the past few days and our gymnasium is being painted later this month. The front landscaping/grass is being removed in a couple of weeks to make room for a new bus/car loop with more parking. Parents are permitted to dig up any of the flowers/shrubs/bushes at this time with the understanding you clean up when you are done. WCS is installing new playground mulch this summer. Please keep students reading over the summer and practicing basic math facts. Best wishes. Enjoy your summer!

Wood County Schools is pleased to provide families with access to their students' 2026 West Virginia General Summative Assessment (GSA) results.

Students have received an email in their Wood County Schools student email account containing a personalized link to access their GSA score reports. Parents and guardians are encouraged to work with their child to retrieve the email and review the results together.

The score report provides detailed information about your child's performance and can help identify academic strengths as well as areas for continued growth.

If your child cannot locate the email or is experiencing difficulty accessing their score report, please contact your child's school for assistance.

We encourage all families to review these results and discuss them with their child as part of supporting continued academic success.

Our third nine weeks reward activity for all grades will take place tomorrow during specials’ times. The reward activity is tie-dyeing T-shirts. We ask that parents send their child(ren) to school in a T-shirt that’s okay to get paint on as we don’t want to ruin good shirts. We are supplying the T-Shirts being used for this activity. Our fifth grade will have their time in the afternoon due to an Arts Awareness trip early in the morning. Thank you to our staff and PTA for making this possible.

Due to snowy and icy conditions impacting a significant portion of the southern part of Wood County, Wood County Schools will now be closed today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026. While some areas of the county may not be experiencing the same conditions, roadways in other areas remain hazardous. Because our buses and families travel across many different communities and road conditions, this decision was made to prioritize the safety of all students and staff throughout the entire county. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure everyone can travel safely.
