Virtual & Distance Learning Students (off-campus learners):
Your iReady end of year diagnostic for math and reading has been assigned. You may log in and take your assessment at any time before May 28.
Parents/Guardians, please provide your student with a quiet place to work. They may complete the assessment in multiple sessions. This is also something that must be completed independently. Independence is important, as results will be used to better serve your students next school year.

Parents/Guardians of Lubeck students in grades 3-5:
Tomorrow, May 12, we will begin our first day of GSA testing. This is the BIG end of year test. There are specific procedures that we must follow when administering the test. Arriving on time to school is always important, but critical on testing days.
If your child arrives late and testing had started, they will not be permitted to enter the classroom until testing is complete. Students will have to make up the test at a later time.
The test schedule is as follows:
May 12- Reading, May 13- Writing, May 19- Math, May 20- Science (5th grade only)

REMINDER **IPAD RETURNS**- It is time for all student iPads and chargers to be returned to the school. This includes the charging cord, charging block, and iPad.
There will be a $250 charge for iPads not returned and a $25 charge for cords/blocks that are not returned.
Many students have returned their devices and we greatly appreciate that! If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.

Today is midterm for the 4th quarter of the academic year. If you have a student in grade 3-5 (these students receive letter grades), you can access their grades at any time via Schoology. If you are unable to access Schoology for any reason, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher and they will be happy to provide you with a paper copy. As always, if you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress at school, their teachers are more than happy to help!

The end of the year is quickly approaching. We are looking forward to maximizing teaching and learning until the very end. Don't worry! There will be time for celebration as well!
State testing (grades 3-5) and iReady End of Year Diagnostic assessments (k-5) are on the horizon. Please join us in reiterating the importance of these assessments. Teachers use the results of these tests to plan for future instruction. Knowing individual areas of strength and struggle is critical in helping every student to excel.

As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to personally say ‘Thank You’ to all of Wood County Schools’ selfless and dedicated educators.
This has been one of the most challenging school years in recent history. Our teachers have not only endured nearly impossible tasks but have risen to the challenge and have continued to place our students first. Our teachers and personnel have dedicated countless hours keeping students engaged, providing support and care to families, and giving our children a beacon of normalcy in an often turbulent and uncertain world. The work you do each day is more appreciated than you will ever know.
Wood County Schools is blessed to have so many caring and dedicated teachers, and I want all of you to know: We see what you are doing and what you have done, and we are thankful you are here.
Thank you for making a difference!

Lubeck Families, As the end of the year creeps up on us, there has been an uptick with students bringing unnecessary toys, fidgets (pop-its), and other items to school. Not only are they creating a distraction in class, but these things frequently are traded with other students, lost, or otherwise come up missing. This results in unhappy kids as they no longer have the item they brought and/or they regret making the original trade. A good rule of thumb is that if it is something that they do not want to lose or it is unnecessary for a school activity, it should stay at home. If your student benefits from the use of a fidget or other supplementary tool, their teacher will work with you to assure they have what they need. If there is a deviation from this due to a classroom activity, the teacher will provide a note. Thank you for your help with this!

Lubeck Parents & Guardians, This is a friendly reminder to send water bottles to school with your students. We do have filling stations throughout the building so that they may be refilled throughout the day. Disposable water bottles are fine if that is your preference.

Parents of students in grades 3, 4, and 5, Lubeck students will be taking the General Summative Assessment (GSA) PRACTICE tests tomorrow, 4/21 (writing), and 4/22 (science- 5th grade only).
It is critical that your child bring their iPad to school fully charged. They will need their device to take the practice test. This is new for most students and taking the assessment on the iPad is new for all students. Having an opportunity to practice will help to build confidence and allow us to work through any glitches that may occur.
Thank you for your help!
