Updated Kindergarten attendance dates for opening days of school. All students will be assigned a homeroom teacher by Monday., Aug. 25.

Correction: As a reminder- K students with last name A-L attend on 8/20 and K students with last name M-Z attend on 8/21. You may have received a letter in the mail that was correct- but handed wrong dates at Open House. Just correcting the info. Dismissal at Door 2 at 2:50.

🦸‍♂️ Jefferson Elementary’s Super Start to the School Year! Answering your most heroic questions... 🦸‍♀️ What supplies does my child need? At Jefferson Elementary, Wood County Schools provides all necessary school supplies—because every hero deserves the right tools! However: *A backpack is recommended to send items to and from home. *A water bottle with a locking lid is encouraged to limit hallway traffic. *Sneakers are a must for gym (2–3 days a week) and for using the mulched playground equipment. 🚫 Crocs, slides, and open-toe shoes will not be allowed on playground equipment for safety reasons. Students in those shoes may play on the field or walk the track instead. 🗂️ When will class rosters be posted? The week of Open House — August 18! Your hero’s classroom assignment will be revealed then. 🏠 When is Open House? 🗓 August 18 from 4–6 PM Come meet your teachers, tour the building, and get powered up for the year ahead! ⏰ When does school start? 🦸‍♂️ First day of class: August 20 (*Aug. 25 for Prek) 🕗 Classes begin promptly at 8:00 AM. Students should arrive before 8:00 — doors open at 7:30 AM. 🚪 What about arrival and dismissal? ARRIVAL PreK–Grade 1: Drop off at Door 3 on Plum Street. ➡️ PreK must be escorted by an adult and greeted by a staff member. Grades 2–5: Drop off at Door 1 (main entrance horseshoe). Late? Please escort your student to the front door and sign them in. DISMISSAL Grades K–2: 2:50 PM Grades 3–5: 2:55 PM PreK: Times vary (full- vs. half-day). 🚫 Cars are not allowed in the main horseshoe during dismissal. Please park and meet your student at their designated door (locations to be announced before school starts). 🍎 Will my child get breakfast? Yes! All students receive a free breakfast each school day. Food boxes will be available to students tomorrow ( Wes., July 16) from 12-2pm at the rear of school (Door 22) at Jefferson Elementary Center.

Last day to pick up your child's personal items/water bottles/awards from front office. 12:30-3:30.

Families- bring a bag, wagon or tub- food pantry items up for grabs at front entrance.

Student awards & personal items need to be picked up by June 30th. Contact the front office.

One more day of school! Monday, June 9 we will hold awards assemblies, say our goodbyes for this school year and celebrate with 5th grade as they graduate from elementary school. We hope you can join us.

Heavy rain and flooding are affecting student transportation. Our team is working on rerouting where possible. Expect delays for bus riders in flood-prone areas. Safety is Wood County Schools' first priority.

Boys and Girls Club will be closed June 2nd to the 9th. Please make arrangements for your after school care. Also, the WV Children's Home Society (on-site) after School Program will only run thru next Friday, June 6th. There will be no on-site childcare on June 9.
