Important Update Regarding the End of the School Year: We are pleased to share that the West Virginia Department of Education has granted Wood County Schools a waiver for three instructional days. As a result of this approval, the last day of school for students will remain Tuesday, June 2, 2026 — no changes have been made to the previously published school calendar. No further action is needed on your part. Please make note of this date as you plan for summer childcare, activities, and travel. Spelling Bee to be held on March 30. Grades 2/3 at 9:30 am and grades 4/5 at 10:30 am in the JEC auditorium. Contact Courtney Johnson, grade 5 teacher and coordinator, if you have questions.

PTA sponsored skating party 5:30-7:30 for present JEC students on March 24. Students must be accompanied by an adult who stays indoors with them. No drop- offs.

Community Bank day- students may open up a student savings account or make deposits to an existing account. Every Thursday 7:30 AM -8:15 AM.

Through no fault of the school, we were unable to photograph our grade 3 students today due to an insufficient number of cameras on site. The photographer will return tomorrow to photograph all grade 3 students, as well as any students who were absent today or who return and would like their photo taken. From now through May 14, the homeroom with the most individual deposits (not dollar amounts!) will win a pizza party at the end of the year! Banking takes place every Thursday morning at the front entrance.

These accounts stay with students for years to come—even after they leave JEC.

PTA meeting will be combined with LSIC meeting- to be held on Tuesday, March 3 at 5:30 in the library. Topics to include for PTA are the end of year activities. Topics of discussion for LSIC include the grant application for the revitalization of hallways involving the refurbished and repainted lockers from Vandy- to be installed this summer. Bus 174 is running late- they had issues resulting in a replacement bus being sent. Please be patient as the new bus runs route to pick up in their place.

PTA sponsored skating party on Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 5:30-7:30. Students must have their adult inside accompanying them- no drop offs. All current JEC students will have skate rental paid. All others $1.
