Parkersburg High School is proud to announce that we have two seniors named Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program! Rohan Malik and Nelson Woofter are our two recipients. As semifinalists they are among more than 16,000 students throughout the U.S. that represent the top 1 percent of students who entered the Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit School Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) during their junior year. They will now go on to compete for some 7,250 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring.

Homecoming Court nominations are done by any student interested in being on the ballot and you must do so IN WRITING EITHER ON PAPER (turn in to your 3rd period advisory teacher or Mr. Stephens in 131C) OR EMAIL (jdstephe@k12.wv.us) by this Friday, September 16, before 8th period. We do not want nominations by other people to keep from us having to verify that they want to be on the ballot. Students who do not have a third period can email it or stop and see Mr. Stephens. Nominations must include: student name, ID number, male or female, grade and 3rd period teacher ( if no 3rd period the name of the teacher for your first class)
Preliminary voting will be done by a paper ballot in 3rd period or seeing Mr. Stephens/Mrs. Swisher if a student isn't at PHS 3rd period.
After the preliminary voting takes place, we will vote for prince/princess and queen/king out of the top vote getters for each grade.
Thank you

Wood County Schools is again offering a damage waiver program for student iPads. The program allows families to pay an upfront fee at the beginning of the school year which reduces the cost of repair and replacement of the iPad of those enrolled. Families can buy in one student for $30 or pay $60 for a family plan, which includes 2 or more students. If a family paid for the damage waiver last year and did NOT have a claim, that payment is rolled over into this year and the family is automatically enrolled again. If a family paid for the damage waiver last year and DID have a claim, they can buy back in to the program by filling out and paying for a new damage waiver. The program does require a student ID number. Contact your child’s school if you do not know their student ID number. Visit our payment portal to purchase. https://woodcountyschoolswv.com/payment
