As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to personally say ‘Thank You’ to all of Wood County Schools’ selfless and dedicated educators. This has been one of the most challenging school years in recent history. Our teachers have not only endured nearly impossible tasks but have risen to the challenge and have continued to place our students first. Our teachers and personnel have dedicated countless hours keeping students engaged, providing support and care to families, and giving our children a beacon of normalcy in an often turbulent and uncertain world. The work you do each day is more appreciated than you will ever know. Wood County Schools is blessed to have so many caring and dedicated teachers, and I want all of you to know: We see what you are doing and what you have done, and we are thankful you are here. Thank you for making a difference!

A message from Balfour: Graduation is quickly approaching. For some schools, we have less then 16 business days before graduation. This includes shipping. It is crucial that we finalize cap/gown and tassel orders for seniors. We will be turning off the website on May 3. This is typically done on April 1. May 3, will mark seven months that seniors have had the opportunity to order on balfour.com. We are at the point where we no longer feel that we will be able to deliver products with adequate time to spare. With this being said, we are and will do everything possible to deliver all seniors their cap/gown units that still have not ordered. Graduation is extremely emotional for parents. Balfour is a company built on celebrating the special moments of high school. Our goal is to make every senior's graduation special. Thank you!

Prom is this Saturday, May 1st from 7-10pm in the Field House. Prom line up will begin at 6pm in the horseshoe. The line will wrap around the north end of the school (right side facing) and back into the back lot. You must wear your mask while in line and give distance to the group in front of you. Before your name is read, students will be given a note card and pen for them, and their date to write down their name. Upon reading of the names, students can have their moment on the front step to get their picture taken and that is when you can take your mask down. Once in the Field House, students must have both their ID and ticket to get in; if you do not have both, your admittance will be denied. DO NOT bring anything with you such as backpacks or large purses. A small wallet will be allowed but you must carry it at all times, and it will be searched before entering. We will only be taking temperatures and asking questions for Covid related protocols. You must wear a mask at all times. Once we acknowledge you can enter you will be given an additional form of identification that you must wear for the remainder of prom so we can help identify who belongs there and who does not. You will be allowed to leave prom at any time from the Field House, but once you leave there is no re-entry into the prom. You must scan the QR code when you leave so we can track times of entering and leaving. The horseshoe for that evening will be shut down and we will not allow any parking for lineup unless you bought VIP parking. Parents are more than welcome to take pictures and enjoy the front campus for prom lineup. For safety protocols for Prom, please wear a mask. Remember during events such as Prom and Graduation, the student’s guests highly outnumber the student. You as the guest are in control of us having events by following the protocols set forth so we can continue to have future events due to Covid. The weather is expected to be nice for Saturday’s prom. If the weather changes, I will notify you of further directions. If you have any questions about anything I just mentioned, please contact the main office. Thank you and have a wonderful evening. Attentions Seniors and Senior parents: Senior yard signs were a one time thing last year with Covid. The school paid over $5000 with no sponsors for the signs as a gift to them. If you want to purchase one you can contact Colleen Upton, cupton@inter-state.com, to order your own! Thank you!
