On Tuesday, September 28th, at 5PM in the Auditorium, PHS will conduct its 1st Local School Improvement Council (LSIC) meeting of the year. During this meeting will set our budget and elect officers. If you are unfamiliar with what the LSIC really is, it's like a PTA organization, but with staff involvement with funds set aside by the county for us to vote on and use. If you are interested in attending, we will see you at 5:00 on Tuesday in the AUDITORIUM.

Hello this is Kenny DeMoss, Principal of PHS, with an important announcement. On Friday, September 17th, during our home football game vs. Parkersburg South, there was a situation that needs to be apologized for. During pregame introductions, a red smoke bomb was used as an entrance for our football team to run out onto the field. This is something that we did last time we played South in football and there wasn't any issue. Unfortunately, we had an issue that night. With the band playing predominately behind the inflated helmet, hardly anyone saw some of our band members have their breath taken away, even some who had to be treated. I want apologize to those students who felt the ill effects of that red smoke. You are a vital component of our atmosphere on Friday Nights and like many who participate in extracurricular activities, you all persevered and still preformed at a high level at halftime and the rest of the game! We would never knowingly place anyone in harms way and again deeply apologize for the effects that hit some of our band members that night. Moving forward, the red smoke will not occur again. The next time you see our band play, give them a huge thank you for role they play in making our school be its best and for the toughness they displayed that night in the heat in full uniform! Thank you and have a good night.

Tickets are still available for the football game Friday night vs South, kickoff at 7:30.

***Attention all Parents***
There is currently a nationwide TikTok Challenge encouraging students to destroy school property and steal items from the school. We have had atleast two incidents so far. Those participating in these unlawful activities will be disciplined. (Fines, Restitution and Suspensions). Please have a conversation with your children about not participating in these activities. Your help with this matter is greatly appreciated.

As a reminder, Senior Milestone pictures are available tomorrow from 8:15-3:00 in the auditorium. Seniors will have the ability to do the tux-n-drapes head shots or the multi poses with 3 pictures of them in regular clothes and then their senior headshot in the tux-n-drapes.

Attention parents and visitors we are finished with our lockdown drill this morning. Thank you everyone for your cooperation!

Attention parents and visitors we will be having a practice lockdown drill this morning. You will not be able to pick up your students or enter the building until we are finished. Once we are finished I’ll make another announcement thank you.

**Attention PHS Community**
We appreciate all donations made to our food pantry and care closet. Right now we are jammed pack with all the kind donations we have received & have no more room. Please do not drop off anymore food or clothing until further notice. Thank you!

Friday, September 10th, we will be having a ceremony to honor those for 9/11. Please refrain from picking your students up unplanned because it will take awhile to locate them during the assembly. Also, as a tradition on Friday’s, we show our school spirit by wearing red/white. It would be nice to witness a sea of red/white Friday during our assembly. Thank you!

On Sept 15th from 10:30-12:00 we will be having a Skype meeting with Senator Joe Manchin for students interested in Military Service Academies. Students must sign up in the Student Service Center no later than Sept. 13th. Here is some more information from the Senator's office:
As you may know, each year military service academies award four-year, fully-paid scholarships, which start young men and women in their military careers. Each scholarship provides a four-year education, room and board, pay, exclusive benefits, and valuable leadership training. Admissions to military service academies require a congressional nomination. I want to do everything I can to ensure West Virginia students are prepared for this highly competitive admissions process.
