We have a wonderful school, staff, and student body. I am alarmed by certain things that we need to address! 76% off all discipline entries from tardy to the worst is from 9th and 10th graders. I am blaming this on the lack of consistency the last two years due to Covid and social norms and expectations
-Cell phones – teachers discretion in class. Students are allowed to have them before & after school, at lunch, and in between classes
-Attendance- too many tardies! School starts at 8:AM. Get here earlier! Doors open at 7AM
-Dress-Not hats, no bellies, no underwear, no sunglasses, no hoods
-Masks-must be worn at all times unless outside, eating, or after school hours
-Bathrooms-no backpacks; no more than 6
-Fighting-5 days or more OSS; can be arrested
-IDS – Must be worn at all times!
-Recording fights – not allowed! Violates FERPA. This also includes taking pictures or videos of others
-Disrespect towards staff – This will not be tolerated! If you verbally assault or threaten a staff member or use profane language directly with them, they will be suspended.
-Bullying/Harassment/Intimidation Once informed, the instigator can not talk to the victim; if it occurs again, OSS to expulsion will occur
Vaping-it’s against the law! Nothing on campus!
-Policy 4373-In Loco parentis; The term in loco parentis, Latin for "in the place of a parent" refers to the legal responsibility of a person or organization to take on some of the functions and responsibilities of a parent; Students should be where they are supposed to be doing what they are supposed to do and on time doing it. Administrators have more flexibility with students, more so than police. We will search, we will wand students, we will protect this campus from illegal activity because we have the right and responsibility to do so!
-The needs of the many out weight the needs of the few. The 5% of our population (which is about 80-90 students) that choose to come to school for other reasons not associated with learning are the ones you are hearing about. We will protect the integrity of this institution, the staff, and the rest of the 95% of the students coming here doing their job.
-Please continue to educate your students on the items I touched on. It starts at home!
-Thank you for understanding and thank you to those students coming to school doing their job and being apart of the 95% doing things right!
-If you have any further questions please call us.
